Quamina’s Counseling Philosophy

Quamina’s support allows individuals to experience emotional freedom from the heaviness of life’s burdens and to thrive in a deeper understanding of their true purpose. Working with her will help your develop your strengths and the motivation to protect what is important to you. Quamina accepts you and wants you to have an awareness of self, in the moment, without rejection. She will help you reframe your negative thoughts to create a reality of peace within your body, soul and mind.

Education/Professional:

Quamina is a licensed mental health counselor and licensed clinical addictions counselor in the state of Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tuskegee University before returning to Indiana to secure her Master of Science in Mental Health and Community Counseling. She is currently completing her Higher Education and Student Affairs Certificate through Indiana University. Quamina currently provides clinical therapy full time at the DePauw University Wellness Center, where she has provided individual and group therapy for the past 9 years. Prior to her years in higher education, Quamina worked at a private treatment facility and in private practice providing clinical services and psychoeducation for adults and their families. She is a member of the Association of Recovery in Higher Education, American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association and American College Counseling Association.

Hobbies:

Quamina enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She is a member of Christ Church Holiness and is a very active member of the Indianapolis Tuskegee Alumni Club and National Tuskegee Alumni Association.

Scope of Practice:

Quamina’s professional orientation includes fusions of mindfulness, CBT, emotional freedom and interpersonal / family of origin therapy. Quamina utilizes values clarification in exploring emerging adulthood, lifestyle transitions, identity development, interpersonal relationships and alternative treatments for a holistic lifestyle. Quamina enjoys working with motivated individuals and couples.
