Yameen’s Counseling Philosophy

“Eudaimonia”, a term often associated with the great philosopher Aristotle, refers to a life in which people flourish and fulfill their true potential. Consistent with several views expressed within the field of Positive Psychology, Yameen believes in focusing on an individual’s strengths and virtues to help individuals, couples and families thrive. In addition to this approach, Yameen’s style focuses on the virtues of growth and development within individuals and families, allowing for a deeper understanding of each client’s unique processes and functions and setting the stage for family members to develop and become experts on their particular family unit.

Yameen brings a wealth of life experience as well as over 10 years of professional expertise with families and children in various settings, particularly those within the foster care and child welfare system. It is with this knowledge that Yameen aims to help remove barriers that are obstructing each client from reaching for and blossoming into their ideal selves.

Yameen earned his Bachelors degree in Human Development with an emphasis on child and adolescent
development from Howard University in Washington, D.C., and went on to earn a Master of Science in
Marriage & Family Therapy from Capella University. He is a member of both the Indiana and American
Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Yameen’s hobbies include cycling, track & field, outdoor activities, traveling, watching movies and
spending time with his wife and children.

Scope of Practice:

Yameen specializes in mood disorders, youth & adolescent work, couples, pre-marital and family
counseling related to transitions, adoption and trauma.
